Blaugust 2025: Goals

What’s the point of all this anyway?

Now that it’s been a few days of posting, it feels like a reasonable time to reflect on what I’d actually like to achieve with this effort.

In short: I’d like to get back into the groove of blogging again.

In long: Blaugust seems like a good fit because one of my biggest issues has always been this entirely internal pressure to put out these long, thorough, well edited pieces which ultimately require the time I don’t always have, and having to post every damn day has already broken that somewhat. Heck, the first and second posts feel downright uncomfortable, but I think that’s very much a good thing for me.

I have a few draft posts and notes for another few, and have had most of those in progress for well over a year at this point. I’ve always felt like they all need to be so amazing that they change the world, even though in reality none of them have any actual potential for doing so, but are totally worth posting anyway. I want to feel free to finish and publish them. And I want to feel free to spend less time obsessing over what I’m posting in general. Perfect is the enemy of the good, or something like that.

So, since I’ve usually found myself leaning far too hard in the opposite direction, I’m trying this now, hoping it helps me shift my perspective. I enjoy doing this very much, and it’s a real shame that getting in my own head poses such a hurdle so often.

Here’s to evolving!
